Before we get into Episode 118, as a reminder, The Bridge is broadcast as a one-hour radio show Monday through Friday on Sports Radio America  at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. A brand new show airs on Wednesdays, then is released as a podcast on iTunes and on this website immediately following the episode. You can listen to the show live on Wednesday night on Sports Radio America here or through the TuneIn app. Additional bonus content can be found exclusively on this podcast.

  • This week’s guest is Aaron Taylor, he’s a two-time All American at Notre Dame, won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers and is now a college football analyst for CBS Sports Network and on-air talent for  SiriusXM’s ACC Radio on channel 371. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Aaron through ACC Radio and now the added pleasure of getting to chat about his football career and life after it. He was part of some highly successful teams while on the offensive line at Notre Dame under Lou Holtz in the 90s, then got to block for Brett Favre during a couple of his MVP seasons and two runs to the Super Bowl, one a win and one a loss. We’ll talk in depth about both of those paths and the challenges faced along the way to even get onto the football field, if he’s been able to get over losing the national championship and then the Super Bowl, the feeling of winning the Lombardi Trophy, how he got drafted by Green Bay, hanging up his cleats and so much more.
  • Follow Aaron on Twitter -> @AaronTaylorCFB. The interview starts at the 3:23 mark.

– In the interview, we discuss:

Why he decided to pursue football (3:58), how much of an influence his mother had on his life (6:33), if he ever got to say hello to her on a nationally televised game and buying her a home after making it in the NFL (8:45), why he picked Notre Dame (11:19), what it’s like running out of the tunnel at Notre Dame (13:41), what his offensive line coach Joe Moore meant to him and creating an award in his honor (17:18), how big the Joe Moore award is (22:16), if he’s gotten over losing to Boston College in the last game of his senior year to miss a chance at the national title (23:31), if they would have beaten Nebraska for the championship (27:41), not being able to talk about the Snow Bowl against Penn State once he landed in Green Bay and winning that game by going for two (28:01), getting drafted int the first round by the Packers (31:28), how practice was with the Green Bay Packers (34:58), the best memory from winning Super Bowl 31 (36:38), how that changed the following year when they lost (38:35), moving on to the San Diego Chargers and playing in his last NFL game with them (41:07),

Eazy (or) Pass, featuring some quick-hitting questions (46:30)

*  If the Packers were worried that Don Bebe would bring bad luck in the Super Bowl (47:05)

* How much trash talking Desmond Howard gives for winning Super Bowl MVP (47:58)

* More Heinekens before he was drafted by the Packers, or after (50:05)

* Mistaking his head coach Mike Holmgren for a reporter when he was a rookie (50:53)

  • “Five Minutes in the Film Room” with Joe Baress, former star of the prestigious John and Joe Sports Show, faces his fears of horror and breaks down “Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” which Rotten Tomatoes describes as: The best intentions often come back to haunt you. Mission: Impossible – Fallout finds Ethan Hunt and his IMF team, along with some familiar allies, in a race against time after a mission gone wrong (48:04). You can follow Joe on Twitter @dukemich and read his movie reviews, previews and ratings at cupof-joe.com.
