Ben Golliver, NBA writer for SI.com, joins the show to discuss how he got into writing, Jim Rome fandom, Charles Barkley, NBA Jam and more [Ep. 117]

Ben Golliver

The dust has settled on the NBA for now, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t talk about it. Or, at least have some fun talking about what it’s like to cover it. Ben Golliver knows a thing or two about what that’s like.

Before we get into Episode 117, as a reminder, The Bridge is broadcast as a one-hour radio show Monday through Friday on Sports Radio America  at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. A brand new show airs on Wednesdays, then is released as a podcast on iTunes and on this website immediately following the episode. You can listen to the show live on Wednesday night on Sports Radio America here or through the TuneIn app. Additional bonus content can be found exclusively on this podcast.

  • This week’s guest is Ben Golliver, staff writer for SI.com who has covered the NBA for various outlets since 2007. Those outlets have included a blog that he started that same year called DraftKevinDurant and Blazers Edge for SB Nation as an editor to cover his hometown Portland Trail Blazers. Ben has covered everything including Space Jam, Jim Rome’s Clones and Charles Barkley (three topics that we’ll actually get into), along with how he got started in sports writing, how he’s been able to evolve from when he started in the industry, how the NBA has evolved along with that, some of what he’s been able to cover and more.
