Len Elmore, former Maryland legend, ABA/NBA player, lawyer and sports broadcaster, joins the show to discuss tales from his playing days, life after hoops and his career behind the mic [Ep. 108]

Len Elmore

At long last, we’ve made it to the NFL Draft. The hot takes of what player will get drafted where will cease, though the takes of what impact the player will have for his respective team will take that place. Thankfully, this week’s show is a reprieve from that. We’re talking hoops with someone who has played and covered them for five or so decades — Len Elmore.

Before we get into Episode 108, as a reminder, The Bridge is broadcast as a one-hour radio show Monday through Friday on Sports Radio America  at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. A brand new show airs on Wednesdays, then is released as a podcast on iTunes and on this website immediately following the episode. You can listen to the show live on Wednesday night on Sports Radio America here or through the TuneIn app. Additional bonus content, including a weekly gambling segment, can be found exclusively on this podcast.

  • This week’s guest is Len Elmore, he’s a Maryland hoops legend, played in the ABA for two years and the NBA for eight, then became a lawyer after his playing days and transitioned into the world of sports broadcasting, where you can hear and see him today. Len is also head or part of several different organizations and groups and uses his voice on many different platforms, not only to broadcast basketball games. I’ve always enjoyed hearing Len’s commentary, most notably during the NCAA Tournament, and getting to hear some of his stories first-hand was definitely a privilege. We’ll talk about when he knew he wanted to pursue basketball into college and beyond, getting his hoops start in New York, tales from his playing days at Maryland, the process of getting drafted into the ABA and his career there and in the NBA, fulfilling his dream of becoming a lawyer, taking his talents behind the microphone and some of the highlights from that aspect of his life.
