All good things must come to an end. Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. Insert more of those types of quotes here, you get the idea. After more than four and a half years as the sports editor for the prestigious Wyoming County Press Examiner newspaper, “The time has come,” the Walrus said. I’m taking my talents to The Big Apple and to SiriusXM satellite radio to be the associate producer of the ACC Today show on the brand new channel, ACC Radio (channel 371). I’m incredibly excited and thrilled for the opportunity, and can’t wait to get started next week. I’m sure we’ll be having Coach K on the show before you know it. Until then, let’s get to know the producer of the show (and, my boss??), Tony Scarangella.
Before we get into Episode 102, as a reminder, The Bridge is broadcast as a one-hour radio show Monday through Friday on Sports Radio America at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. A brand new show airs on Wednesdays, then is released as a podcast on iTunes and on this website immediately following the episode. You can listen to the show live on Wednesday night on Sports Radio America here or through the TuneIn app. Additional bonus content, including a weekly gambling segment, can be found exclusively on this podcast.
- “Sports News Read Like Real News” told the tale of J.R. Smith’s latest plight— throwing soup at the Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach (2:18).
- The Bridge Question of the Week is: What would be the best soup to throw at your enemies, and why? Leave a voicemail or text in your answer to 929-BRIDGE7, that’s 929-274-3437, and you’ll make it on the next show.

- This week’s guest is Tony Scarangella, now the producer for the ACC Today show on the new SiriusXM channel ACC Radio. Tony has been at SiriusXM for a decade or so, having worked his way up from an internship to running the board before eventually producing shows on several different channels. His next adventure is now as part of the new College Conference Channels, which officially launched March 5. Since we’ll be seeing a lot of each other soon enough, I thought it would be fun to chat, first on how he landed at SiriusXM, some of what he does behind the scenes and some of the shows he’s worked for, including the newest one on the ACC Radio channel. Tony will also participate in Eazy or Pass to close out the interview, where you’ll hear about his other job, his college band, his favorite karaoke song and more.
- The interview starts at the 15:37 mark.
– In the interview, we discuss:
How he decided to pursue a degree in the Communication world (16:20), what his biggest takeaway from studying that in college was (18:46), how he landed an internship at SiriusXM (21:46), turning down a gig at SiriusXM to finish school before eventually getting his foot back in the door (25:06), getting his first gig in studio (27:03), transitioning from comedy to sports (29:39), having fun on the Evan & Phillips in the Morning show (31:51), his best tale from FALCon 2016 (36:42), writing parody songs with the great Mike Babchik (39:44), moving on to Bleacher Report Radio and Left Coast Live (41:16), when he found his “voice” on radio (43:14), taking on the new opportunity with ACC Radio (45:36) and if he regrets having me as an Associate Producer after this interview (48:06).

- “Five Minutes in the Film Room” with Joe Baress, former star of the prestigious John and Joe Sports Show, breaks down “The Commuter,” which Rotten Tomatoes describes: In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson is Michael, an insurance salesman, whose daily commute home quickly becomes anything but routine. After being confronted by a mysterious strange, Michael is blackmailed into finding the identity of a passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, Michael is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy that carries life and death stakes for himself and his fellow passengers.
